For MUN-Directors
Dear MUN-Directors,
To ensure that your students are well prepared for the conference, we would like to make some suggestions on how to prepare. Now that you have, you would have started preparing your delegates. The Beginning Delegate Booklet is an excellent tool to do so.
With your help they should be able to make a country profile enabling them to gain background information on the country that they will be representing.
After they have finished, they will start to conduct research on the topics of their committee. The issues can be found on the website, together with the research reports written by the Student Officers that will be chairing that specific committee. The information in the reports should help the students, when gaining information about the topics.
The next step is analysing the information they have and gaining insight in to the stance on the matter as far as their country is concerned. After they have done so, the delegates will write a policy statement, which is a one to two minute speech expressing their point of view. Once that has taken place they can start writing clauses for a resolution. We recommend that every delegate has one or two clauses ready on each topic in their committee, before entering their committee room. This will help the process of lobbying, which will take place on Friday and Saturday morning. Complete resolutions should be written during the weekend.
After every step has been completed successfully, the delegate(s) will be prepared well for the conference.
Please make sure that your delegates are familiar with the lobbying and debating techniques.
During the weekend there will be an MUN-Directors workshop which will give you more information about your role as a director.
Good luck!
Kind regards,
Amber Traa
